As smartphones with 108-megapixel cameras have just hit the market, a manufacturer is reportedly preparing to launch a smartphone with a main 192-megapixel camera. However, it is not a high-end smartphone, but rather a mid-range model with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chip.
Today, only a few recent Android smartphones have a 108-megapixel main camera. However, the media is already raising the possibility that smartphones with a 144-megapixel or even 192-megapixel camera may be presented this year.
There have been rumors for several weeks that Samsung is currently preparing for mass production of a 144-megapixel sensor for smartphones. Other sources suggest that among the manufacturers who could use this camera, there is Xiaomi, which already uses Samsung’s 108 megapixel sensor on the Mi 10, the Mi 10 Pro as well as the Mi Note 10.
192 megapixels?
And today, an article published by our colleagues from GSMArena indicates that it is even possible that a smartphone equipped with a main 192 megapixel camera will be released next month. The media relays a rumor launched by “Digital Chat Station”. And if this “leak” does not evoke the brand of this smartphone, it is likely that this smartphone is not a Samsung, nor a Xiaomi. Indeed, GSMArena writes: “One more teaser: it will not be the phone you are waiting for. “
Other interesting information: it will obviously not be a high-end smartphone, but rather a mid-range mobile. Indeed, unlike the premium models of 2020 which use the Snapdragon 865 chip, the one mentioned by this new rumor would use a Snapdragon 765G chip.
But of course, for the moment, this information is still to be considered with extreme caution, since it does not come from official sources. But in any case, it should be noted that like the Snapdragon 865 chip for premium smartphones, the Snapdragon 765G chip is also capable of managing a 192 megapixel camera.
But of course, the number of pixels of the main camera is not the only element to take into account when we want to evaluate the performance of a smartphone in terms of photos and video, as Huawei has shown with its P40 Pro.
